The future of the EU

These days, we can read more and more often about the potential earthquake that will rock the Union should the populists be successful in the 2019 European Parliament elections.
Policy experts predict that Eurosceptic parties will do better than centrist parties. Therefore, the upcoming European election could be the most important event, determining the future of the European Union. It is not “Brussels” or “European Commission bureaucrats”, who make decisions but the ministers of member states and the members of the European Parliament, who according to the EU treaties, received their mandate directly from the European people. Parliament thus plays the key role in the decision-making process of the EU and its decisions are based on the political spectrum within. This and much more will be the subject of at my tradition debate “in the atrium”.

It is therefore my pleasure to kindly invite you to the debate “The Future of the EU”, where we will discuss this topic with my dear guest, former prime minister and minister of finance of Finland, member of the European parliament and one of the candidates of EPP for the President of the European Commission Alexandr Stubb.

The debate will take place on Friday 19th October from 15:00 – 16:30 at the atrium in front of my Prague office at Malostranské náměstí 266/5 at Prague 1. The working language will be English and there will be no interpretation in to Czech.
